Cosmos Odyssey

Grades 7 and up

30 minutes

Our journey begins with the birth of the universe and the eventual formation of our solar system. The cosmos proved to be a mystery, and the myths and logic of the ancient world attempted to explain the motions of the night sky. The continued study of these motions ushered in a scientific revolution with the ideas of Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler and Newton and the invention of the telescope. Today, larger and more diverse telescopes on Earth and in orbit are able to observe stars, galaxies and exotic objects in multiple wavelengths of light and enable future generations to ask new questions in order to unravel the mysteries of the universe.
