The Inside Story of Toys

This new exhibition illustrates the simple mechanisms commonly found in toys and lets visitors create their own toy-like combinations of gears, pulleys, linkages, cams and circuits.

Get a close-up view of the cam combination that frees our hero, Jack, in Jack Gets Out of His Box, and unmask the amazing collection of switches, cams, and motors that make Elmo dance and Mr. Machine run. Activate a circuit and play a giant game of Operation. Try some simple mechanisms, then operate a Hungry Hungry Hippo. Test out your manual dexterity by following patterns on a gigantic Etch A Sketch!
